"MEW" Lingjun Jiang

Mew was born in China. She currently lives in the U.S. Fluent in Mandarin, Cantonese, Japanese, and English, Mew spent a year in Japan studying Japanese art, history, literature, and translation. She has great passion about East Asian culture, focusing on the study of painting genre "Nine-stage painting of a decaying corpse" as well as Edo-period ukiyo-e manga and erotica prints. Her project MEW3 explores the matter of loneliness, alternative personality, and imaginary friends. She enjoys exploring the differences within the East Asian countries as well as the cultural differences between the East and the West. Both traditional and contemporary East Asian art give her inspirationas she works on digital art and oil paintings. Mew wants to adopt more techniques and concepts in her future works, hoping to promote East Asian culture and art worldwide.
